Giant Pumpkins Take Over Ballard Park on Sunday, September 24

Giant pumpkins are rolling into Ballard Park in Ridgefield on Sunday, September 24 for the 11th Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off!

Ridgefielders Jessica Collins and Steve Maydan are co-chairs of the 11th Annual Giant Pumpkin Weighoff & Festival planned for Sunday, September 24 in Ballard Park! Don't miss this pumpkin-filled community event!

The Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off beckons pumpkin growers from New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey growers to bring their orange beauties to Ballard Park in Ridgefield.

The pumpkins are lifted off the trucks and lined up in the park until the weighing begins. A large scale is set up by the gazebo.

The pumpkins are measured to estimate their weight (some will go heavy, some will go light) and then weighed in order of expected lightest to expected heaviest.  Plaques, ribbons, and cash prizes are awarded to the winners. In addition to giant pumpkins, growers will bring giant green squash, long gourds, field pumpkins, marrows, bushel gourds, and giant tomatoes to compete for awards in those categories.
