Services planned for Ridgefield resident Florence Margaret Colletto

Florence Margaret Colletto, 91, of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2023. Florence (Flo) was born in New York City on March 10, 1932; a daughter of the late James and Mary (Adamick) O’Rourke. Florence was one of ten siblings raised predominately by their mother, Mary after the early passing of their father.

Florence loved living at Prospect Ridge Congregate Housing in Ridgefield for the past 20 years. She spent time working in the office there and was an active volunteer in assisting other seniors. Previously Florence worked for many years in the business administration office for Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Stamford, CT, which was the same hospital where her son, Michael was born.

Florence enjoyed dancing, celebrating Halloween, and was fond of horror/monster movies, with the original King Kong being her all time favorite movie. She enjoyed being around dogs and brought Chante, a white toy poodle, into the family who became a cherished pet for over 14 years. Florence’s joy was spending time with her loving family and friends and being around children.

Florence is survived by her son, Michael Colletto and his wife, Georgette (who was her loving caregiver to the end), her three grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher, and Stephen, and many loved nieces and nephews. Florence was predeceased by her siblings, Doris, Pat, Jimmy, Isabelle, Geri and Johnny, and is survived by her siblings, Terry, Kitty, and Dennis.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A funeral prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Friday afternoon at 12:45 PM. Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Ridgefield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Florence’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Autism Speaks.
