Ridgefield Announces Completion of Successful Main Street Project

After nearly 16 months of construction, the Main Street Project has been completed. All phases of the project are now finished and fully operational. The street has been relandscaped in many areas and proudly displays the beauty of our downtown.

From the very beginning of this project, the Town of Ridgefield, its retailers, residents, and those who contributed to the initial planning of the project, have worked effectively together to ensure the project’s success. While the project did experience delays and some inconvenience, the final result has been well received by the overwhelming majority of the parties involved and the residents of Ridgefield. The Connecticut Department of Transportation was also a strong advocate for the proper planning and delivery of all work by the myriad of contractors associated with the project.

Most importantly, the overall objective of the project has been achieved.  With the new signalization, we are beginning to witness a smoother flow of traffic and fewer delays at intersections. Dedicated turning lanes are functioning well, helping to prevent a buildup of traffic.

Rudy Marconi, First Selectman, reflected on the years of advocacy and support for the Main Street Project. “On behalf of the Town of Ridgefield, and all those whose efforts helped make this project a success, I wish to thank you for your patience during the various phases of construction. I believe the end result is something that we can all be proud of and appreciate for years to come.”
