Ridgefield Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Strong Winds late Sunday into early Monday Morning

The National Weather Service is predicting a strong frontal system to approach from the west Sunday moving across overnight Sunday, December 10. 
 
This will bring a period of moderate to heavy rainfall (1.50" to 2.50" of rain possible) and strong wind gusts late Sunday afternoon into early Monday morning. Minor coastal flooding impacts are possible with the Monday morning high tidal cycle as well.
 
HAZARDS & IMPACTS

Heavy Rain:

 Storm Total Rainfall: 2 to 2 ½” across NYC and points N&W. 1 1/2 to 2” inches for much of LI and SE CT. Most of this rain will fall over a 12 hr period late Sunday into early Monday morning, before tapering off Monday morning.

 Flash Flood Impacts: Main threat will be areas of minor urban and poor drainage flooding, with a isolated flash flooding possible. There is potential for minor flooding along quick responding small rivers, streams, creeks of NE NJ, Lower Hud and SW CT as well

Strong Winds: Sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph possible along the coast Sunday evening into early Monday morning. A few trees and power lines, and scattered tree limbs could be downed. Power outages possible.

Coastal Flooding: Widespread minor to locally moderate coastal flooding potential (1 to 2 ft agl) for vulnerable communities along NY Harbor, Jamaica Bay, western Great South Bay, and coastal Westchester and SW CT with Monday morning high tide.
