Coach Turner’s Holiday Classic: A Community Coming Together for a Cause
On December 22, 2024 at 10am, Ridgefield will come alive with camaraderie, competition, and gratitude as the community gathers for Coach Turner’s Holiday Classic, a flag football tournament held at Tiger Hollow. Organized by former players, the event celebrates and honors Ridgefield resident John Turner, a beloved youth football coach, and raises funds for the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (CAF).
Diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease eight and a half years ago, Coach Turner has continued to embody the values he instilled in his players over 13 years of coaching: dedication, toughness, courage, and brotherhood. His impact extends far beyond the field, touching countless lives and strengthening the fabric of the Ridgefield community.
Why This Event Matters
Coach Turner’s Holiday Classic offers an opportunity for the people of Ridgefield and Fairfield County to express their gratitude and honor his contributions. All proceeds from the tournament will support CAF, an organization funding vital research to combat Alzheimer’s disease.
Last year’s event raised $8,000 for the cause, and with your help, this year’s Classic can make an even greater impact.

How to Get Involved
Register Your Team or Join as a Free Agent here.
- Teams: 5–9 players, $250 per team
- Free agents: $40 per individual
Each participant will receive a Coach Turner Holiday Classic t-shirt. The registration deadline is December 20, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
Can’t Make It? You Can Still Help:
Donations in honor of Coach Turner can be made directly to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund via the event website.
