Debate at St. Stephen’s Considers Worker Expectations of Employers

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Ridgefield is hosting a Braver Angels debate on Sunday, June 8, at 4 p.m. The topic: “Should an adult worker expect their employer to provide for all of their needs (health, insurance, adequate pay, and retirement)?” Braver Angels, a grassroots, non-partisan organization founded in 2016, is bringing this free event to Ridgefield as part of its mission to bridge the partisan divide, return civility to our interactions and strengthen our democracy. The event takes place in the church’s North Hall at 353 Main St.

“We rarely have time to listen and reflect on the variables which influence our answer to this question,” said The Rev. Whitney Altopp, rector of St. Stephen’s. “Perhaps in the sharing and listening we’ll begin to discover and consider new possibilities for fostering the American Dream and bridging the partisan divide.”

Like all Braver Angels debates, the event at St. Stephen’s will be a highly structured conversation facilitated by a professional from Braver Angels. When done well, everyone walks out a little closer to the truth, more aware of the validity in opposing views, and with tighter community relationships.  All are welcome. Registration is required, although walk-ins are also welcome. Register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1357742487329?discount=BRAVER&aff=oddtdtcreator
