Generation X Redefines 60+ Founders Hall Expands Lifelong Learning Opportunities

As the first wave of Generation X turns 60 in 2025, Founders Hall is expanding its dynamic programming to meet the evolving interests of Ridgefield’s active adult community. With an array of academic, fitness, creative, and social opportunities, Founders Hall continues to be the destination for lifelong learning, wellness, creativity, and connection.

“As we welcome a new generation of members, we’re seeing an exciting shift in what it means to be 60-plus,” says Katie Overstreet, Program Manager at Founders Hall. “Our programs reflect the energy, curiosity, and diverse interests of today’s active adults.”

New course offerings for Spring 2025 include:

"Ethical Questions in Science" with Chris Priedemann, following his popular Forensic Science series

"Intuitive Mixed Media Painting" with artist Lily Fertik

"Garden Mosaics" with Barbara Galazzo

"Voices of America: Current Events in Historical Context" with renowned instructor Jennifer DeJulio

"Zumba" with Jessica Mancini, combining fitness with fun

"Drum Circle" with Supriya Swerdlik Hermenze, exploring movement through space, guided improvisation, and diverse rhythms

"Getting the Words off the Page" with Scott Schulte, where participants hone vocal

expression and presence in a supportive environment welcoming both newcomers and experienced performers

"Golf Fit: Conditioning for the Ultimate Performance" with Carol Gardell

"Get Your Groove On: Salsa for Beginners" with Luis Lopez

These new offerings complement an already robust lineup of programs in academics, fitness, creativity, and community engagement—ensuring there’s something for everyone, from hands-on art workshops to thought-provoking discussions and invigorating movement classes.

Membership is free, and program fees are kept minimal thanks to generous support from donors and sponsors. Ridgefield residents aged 60 and above, along with their partners (regardless of age), are eligible to join.
