Welcome to another "P-06877-etry” feature where Ridgefield’s second Poet Laureate, Ira Joe Fisher, shares his poetic prowess with HamletHub readers.
An April Day
In the sun
a wind bothers
the boughs
of a pine
across the street.
It ripples
a canvas awning
as if thumbing
the pages
of an old book
so loved,
so read,
it sits open
and holy
like a bible
on the table.
There’s no rent
in the sky,
no broken blue,
where the wind
slipped from.
It clears spring
for the sun
and the budding
to come.
