“P-06877-etry”

Welcome to another "P-06877-etry” feature where Ridgefield’s second Poet Laureate, Ira Joe Fisher, shares his poetic prowess with HamletHub readers.

An April Day

In the sun

a wind bothers

the boughs

of a pine

across the street.

It ripples

a canvas awning

as if thumbing

the pages

of an old book

so loved,

so read,

it sits open

and holy

like a bible

on the table.

There’s no rent

in the sky,

no broken blue,

to tell

where the wind

slipped from.

It clears spring

for the sun

and the budding

to come.
