Ira Joe Fisher's P-06877-etry - "The Other Side of Yesterday"

Welcome to another "P-06877-etry” feature where Ridgefield’s second Poet Laureate, Ira Joe Fisher, shares his poetic prowess with HamletHub readers!

The Other Side of Yesterday

Sun urges the beech trees to sparkle

And dance.  But I am out for darkling shade.

Morning and dew and the grasshopper day

Feel the footfalls of the garage and farm

As day does day as though night never was.

Leaves welcome the sun upon their branches,

But I wish night had never departed,

Had never powdered westward and away.

Soft night, the sleeping sparrow, the creek slowed

And all the light night needs is the month’s moon

To shine more gently, more dim from the sun

Burning on the other side of yesterday.
