Stellarphobia
A star’s spark beckons
and through the haze of town
I feel its pull,
I feel its invitation
to leave this earth
and home and folk I love.
Nearing a star
I’d see its light colored and bright:
red would ripple to green
and green would fizz blue –
soft, at first, then sharp –
ahead of blazing back to red.
It would glow my face
and light my eyes
and fill my path with fire.
A star’s spark beckons…
but I’m afraid to fly.
