Megan gets personal in Mindset Monday: it's OK not to feel OK

Editor's note: May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and in today's Mindset Monday, Megan shares her personal mental health story.

Welcome to Megan’s Mindset Mondays, brought to you by Ridgefield resident and Megan Couri, MA OTR/L, a Master Reiki Practitioner, founder of Divine Reiki and owner of Pediatrics OT.

Mindset Monday: My recent personal mental health story.

In this video, I share my recent personal mental health story. It’s ok to not feel ok.

Here are some strategies that worked for me:

  1. Recognize and identify the negative thoughts as untrue.
  2. Share your feelings with a loved one.
  3. Make a short-term plan (what can I do today and right now.. ie, call a friend, listen to your favorite songs, help others, walk outside, exercise, drive, cook etc.).
  4. Make a long-term plan and timeline. If I don’t feel better by ____ date I’m going to contact a professional.

I am not a mental health expert and welcome other opinions or stories (please share!)

Know this…if you feel alone you are not!

You are loved, worthy, and whole.
