The Ridgefield High School Music Department is proud to announce that Charlotte Overs is November’s Music Student of the Month. Her love and devotion of music combined with her singing talent makes her an essential part of the community.
Charlotte has been singing her whole life. She sang in the choir throughout her elementary and middle school years, and in doing so, fell in love with singing and the music community. She continued singing at Ridgefield High School in both our Concert Choir and our select vocal ensemble called Madrigals.
Immediately after joining the choir, Charlotte undertook leadership roles working to help her peers and strengthen the choir. As a junior, Charlotte was Conductor’s Assistant of Madrigals and a rotating section leader in choir for their performance at Carnegie Hall. As a senior, Charlotte continued to take on leadership responsibilities, as the Conductor’s Assistant of Concert Choir as well as a rotating section leader. Charlotte also auditioned for and was accepted to the 2024 CMEA Western Region Choir. This honor speaks to Charlotte’s talent, musical ability, and work ethic.
Apart from being a wonderful leader, Charlotte has fostered many friendships among other choir students, making the music community an even more incredible place to those wishing to join. Overs says “The music community is a really welcoming one made up of great people. I have met some of my best friends in the music community.” She recollects that some of her favorite choir memories are not only about the incredible performance opportunities (such as singing under John Rutter’s baton at Carnegie Hall this past January) but also about the people she got to sing with along the way.
In addition to Charlotte’s involvement in RHS Music, she also plays on the Ridgefield High School Girls Varsity Tennis Team and is a member of the National Honors Society, the Distributive Education Club of America, and Youth Against Cancer. In her free time, Charlotte helps others by peer tutoring. Charlotte will be graduating from Ridgefield High School this year and her leadership abilities, kindness towards others, and singing talent will be greatly missed by all.
