The Ridgefield High School Music Department is pleased to announce that Aaron Rattner is April’s Music Student of the Month. Rattner’s talented leadership and love for music has made him an essential member of the community.
Aaron started playing drums when he was seven years old, and started discovering other means of percussion at the age of ten. Entering high school, Aaron utilized the incredible resources of the RHS music community to improve his dynamics, understanding of music theory, and sheet reading abilities to improve his already incredible performance. Fueled with a love of percussion, Aaron worked his way up to becoming the percussion section leader and drumline captain for the Jazz Band.
Aaron emphasizes his love for percussion has grown, not only because of the joy of performing, but also because of the music community at Ridgefield High School. When reflecting upon his favorite memories with the community, Aaron recalls the 2025 trip to New Orleans as being exceptionally incredible because of all the memories he made with the community. He says “The music department at RHS is more than just a community; it’s a family. So many close relationships have been fostered with people I would never have met if not for our school’s music program, and I’m forever grateful for that.”
Outside of school, Aaron loves hiking, drawing, painting, and studying astronomy and physics. Aaron will be attending Penn State University this fall, and while the music community will miss him, RHS knows he will do great things in his college career.
