Ridgefield High School Boys Lacrosse: Week in Review (4/14-4/20) and the Week Ahead
Tigers Face First Setbacks of Season, Finish Challenging Week 1–2
After opening the 2025 season with four straight wins, the Ridgefield High School boys lacrosse team encountered its first setbacks this past week — a stretch that included an FCIAC win and two losses to quality opponents. The Tigers finished the week 1–2 and will look to use the experience to grow stronger as they approach the midpoint of the season.

Tigers Roll Past Ludlowe in FCIAC Opener
Tuesday, April 15 – Ridgefield 11, Fairfield Ludlowe 3
Ridgefield opened the week on a high note, cruising past Fairfield Ludlowe, 11–3, in their FCIAC opener at Tiger Hollow to improve to 5–0.
Senior Walker Fiore had two goals and two assists to pace a balanced attack. Senior Jake Carney and sophomore Chris Colsey each recorded hat tricks, and Levi Kessler opened the scoring early in the first quarter to help set the tone. Ryan Troy and Des Couri also contributed offensively.
The Tigers led 6–1 at halftime and continued to pull away in the second half, while the defense limited Ludlowe to a single goal through the first three quarters. Defenders Jack Kirchner, Jack Schoenherr, and Bryan Fitzpatrick anchored a solid back line that limited Ludlowe’s chances.
Staples Hands Ridgefield First Loss
Thursday, April 17 – Staples 10, Ridgefield 6
Ridgefield suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday in Westport, falling 10–6 to a sharp Staples team that came out strong and never trailed.
The Wreckers — seeking to right the ship after an unexpected loss to Greenwich and looking to avenge their loss to the Tigers in last year’s state playoffs — opened with four quick goals and led 5–2 after the first quarter, building momentum that carried through the middle frames. Ridgefield struggled to find its rhythm against a disciplined Staples defense and standout goalie Josh Marcus, who made several key saves.
Colsey recorded his second hat trick in a row, scoring all three of his goals in the fourth quarter as the Tigers finally found their offensive rhythm late and attempted a late push that fell short. Jake Carney had a goal and an assist, Levi Kessler recorded two assists, and Brandon Penn scored in the first quarter while winning 10 of 19 faceoffs. Des Couri added a goal, and Tommy Lunn and Liam Kristan each had an assist. Goalie Dylan Penn finished with eight saves.
Brunswick Pulls Away from Ridgefield at Tiger Hollow
Saturday, April 19 – Brunswick 14, Ridgefield 6
In a marquee non-conference matchup at Tiger Hollow, Ridgefield hosted nationally-ranked Brunswick on Saturday afternoon. The Bruins used a fast start and a strong third quarter to pull away for a 14–6 win.
Carney added his second goal early in the fourth quarter, but Ridgefield’s final push came up short as Brunswick added two more late goals to seal the result.
Carney finished with two goals and one assist, Couri scored twice, and Colsey had a goal and an assist. Lunn added a goal, and Dylan Penn recorded nine saves in net.
Looking Ahead: Two Big Tests This Week
Ridgefield (5–2, 1-1 FCIAC) returns to action with two important games this week:
- Thursday, April 24 at 6 p.m. – Home vs Greenwich High School (2-3, 2-1 FCIAC): The Tigers host a tough Greenwich squad in a key FCIAC matchup under the lights at Tiger Hollow.
- Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. – Away at Rye High School (NY) (3-1): Ridgefield heads across the state line for a Saturday nightshowdown against a strong Rye program that’s among the top public school squads in New York State.
