Ridgefield Guild’s 2-1-2 Small Group Show Opens June 7

Ridgefield Guild of Artists is pleased to present its 2-1-2 Juried Exhibition running from Saturday, June 7 – 22. We welcome all to the opening reception from 4-6pm Saturday, June 7. Come meet the five artists juried into this small group show: Melissa Benedek, Eddie Hall, Pam Rouleau, Debra Burger and Laurie Peek.

Tanya Pohrt was this year’s 2-1-2 juror, selecting five local artists from the forty-six who applied to be part of this small group show. Pohrt is the curator of the Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London, Connecticut. She holds a Ph.D. in art history from the University of Delaware, specializing in American art, and was previously a Marcia Brady Tucker Fellow in American Paintings and Sculpture at the Yale University Art Gallery.

The board came up with this premise for a show giving artists the opportunity to exhibit a larger body of work then what can be possible in any other Guild juried shows. Submissions came in last fall with artists providing the juror a sampling of their work. Once selected, they were given six months to explore, expand, and create more pieces to be part of the show. The result? …A unique and beautiful small group show!

There will be a Walk & Talk on the final day of the show on Sunday, June 22 from 2-4pm when the artists will speak about their creative process and small group show experience. All are welcome to join in on the conversation.

Ridgefield Guild of Artists is located at 34 Halpin Lane, just before the entrance to the Rail Trail. RGOA is now in its fifty-first year, continuing to bring visual arts and education to the Ridgefield community. It is a 501c3 non-profit organization and all donations are gratefully accepted.
