Ridgefield High School Closed Today After Issue in Electrical Closet

In a note to the Ridgefield High School community, Dr. Jacob Greenwood announced that on the evening of December 9, 2024, the fire alarms at Ridgefield High School were activated due to a small, contained issue in an electrical closet.

As a safety precaution, the building was immediately evacuated, and the Ridgefield Fire Department responded promptly. They collaborated with the district facilities crew to assess the situation, ensure safety, and clear smoke from the affected area.

Dr. Greenwood expressed gratitude to the fire department for their swift response and to the staff, students, and parents for their cooperation during the evacuation.

Although the building has been deemed safe, power remains unavailable due to necessary electrical repairs. As a result, Ridgefield High School will be closed on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. The last day of school for RHS will now be Monday, June 16, 2025.

Dr. Greenwood remains hopeful that the repairs will be completed on December 10 and plans to provide an update in the afternoon regarding access to the building for after-school activities.
