Ridgefield’s Ms President US 2024 Honored by Lt. Governor Bysiewicz and Senators

Ridgefield’s Ms President US 2024 Honored by Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and  State Senators at State Capitol

On March 11, 2025, Namya Chouhan, Ridgefield’s Ms President US winner for 2024, along with her Vice President, Kate Kumar, were awarded citations from Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz in recognition of their leadership and commitment to civic engagement. The honor was presented at the Girls Rock the Capitol event, which is dedicated to inspiring young women to participate in government and public service.

Namya and Kate, passionate young leaders, have demonstrated outstanding dedication to empowering girls in leadership and political involvement. Through Ms President US, they have worked to encourage the next generation of female leaders to engage in their communities and pursue roles in public service.

State Senators Ceci Maher and Julie Kushner were also in attendance to celebrate Chouhan and Kumar’s achievements and support the mission of Ms President US. The event provided young women with the opportunity to engage with elected officials, learn about the legislative process, and tour the historic Capitol buildings.

“We are so proud of Namya and Kate and the work they have done to uplift young women in leadership,” said Ms President US Executive Director Amanda Cordano. “Their passion for civic engagement embodies the spirit of Ms President US, and I have no doubt that they will continue to make a difference in their communities and beyond.” The Ms. President US program aims to educate and inspire middle school girls to become the leaders of tomorrow by equipping them with the skills and confidence to pursue leadership roles in their schools, communities, and public service at every level.

The public is invited to vote for the 2025 Ms Presidents at their Signature Election Event on April 6th. Candidates from 12 CT towns will present their campaign platforms, the audience will vote, and winners will be announced at the end of the free event. RSVP here.
