UPDATE; Services on Tuesday for Longtime Ridgefield Resident, Carl Warren

“Live life with love, laughter and learning … time passes quickly”

Carl Robert Warren, 91, of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025 while surrounded by his loving family, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He lived his last few years as he did his entire life, focusing on the positive, always the gentleman and giving generously of himself to others.

Carl adored his wife, Donna. Married for over 66 years – traveling the world, raising four children, loving seven grandchildren and most recently celebrating the birth of their first great grandchild in February. Carl was a friend to many and could always be counted on to bring heart-felt laughter, fun and joy to any gathering.

Carl was born in Maywood, IL on September 20, 1933; the son of the late Dr. Robert Nicholas and May (Hansen) Warren. He was the only brother to three beloved sisters: Peg, Judy and Mary Ann. He met Donna while attending the University of Illinois, where he was a proud member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. Carl served honorably in the US Army in Japan.

In 1954, Carl began a successful career at American Can Company. He was a charismatic leader, inspirational speaker and an extremely hard worker. He achieved an impressive 47-year career in sales and marketing, ultimately leading world-wide sales for Pechiney Corporation.

Carl’s career resulted in new adventures and relocations for his wife and family. Together they made homes in New Orleans, LA; Tampa and Orlando, FL; Barrington, IL; and finally, Ridgefield, CT. Forever the Mid-westerners, Carl and Donna frequently traveled back to family and their roots in Illinois. Carl retired in 2002, affording him and Donna the time to travel the world together and enjoy life with cherished friends.

Generous with both his time and heart, Carl volunteered throughout his retirement. He served with the Ridgefield VNA, helped fundraise for the Ridgefield Boys and Girl’s Club, and was a devoted parishioner at St. Mary’s Church, where he always found solace in attending daily Mass. He loved finding small, meaningful ways to bring joy to others and share his passionate enthusiasm for life. Carl was an avid golfer, playing 18 holes on his 90th birthday with his children. Carl was a long-time member of Silver Spring Country Club where his pitching wedge worked magic from 50 yards in and impressively shot or beat his age on several occasions. Carl also loved to work in the yard and followed his father’s daily calisthenics discipline. He loved all music, card games and chocolate chip cookies.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Donna, and their four children: Tom Warren (Bonnie Hurry), Cathy Frierson (Greg Frierson), Nick Warren and Andy Warren (Tracy Warren); seven grandchildren: Robbie Frierson (Sarah Frierson), Madeline Frierson, Shannon Frierson, Caroline Warren, Drew Warren, Lily Warren, and Jerel Outlaw; and his great-grandchild, Warren Frierson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. There will be no calling hours; interment will take place privately.

Contributions in Mr. Warren's memory may be made to RVNA Health and Hospice.
