Sudden Closure of Red Rooster Pub and Redevelopment Plans for the Property

Ridgefield residents were surprised by the sudden closure of Red Rooster, announced in a heartfelt social media post by longtime employee Lindsey Kinford, who shared her gratitude for the customers and connections made during her five years at the restaurant.

In a heartfelt post last night on the Ridgefield CT Facebook page, Red Rooster employee Lindsey Kinford shared the unexpected news of the restaurant’s closure. "I just wanted to say Red Rooster Ridgefield is now closed. We were given less than 24 hours' notice," Kinford wrote. She expressed gratitude for the customers she had served over her five years at the pub, adding, "I have met many wonderful people... Some people I really wish I could have said goodbye to."

Efforts to reach the restaurant for confirmation went unanswered, with no voicemail or social media updates to indicate the closure. The Red Rooster's Facebook page has not been updated in over a year, and its Instagram account has been inactive even longer.

According to town documents, applicant Peter Olsen, has proposed a plan to redevelop the site into a 20-unit multifamily apartment building. Ridgefield's Inland Wetlands Board approved the plan in late December 2024, noting that the property has no wetlands or watercourses and no significant environmental impact is anticipated. The proposal outlines that construction could begin as early as spring 2025. For more details, visit the proposal documents.

The Red Rooster Pub opened its doors on July 11, 2018, under the direction of seasoned restaurateur Tony Ramadani. Known for its rustic farmhouse charm, the restaurant quickly became a beloved spot for locals. Its sudden closure marks the end of an era in Ridgefield's dining scene, leaving many longtime patrons and employees with fond memories and unanswered questions about its abrupt farewell.
