The Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield is thrilled to announce the launch of 4 BRAND NEW specialty programs for the 2024 Winter Season!
The BGCR program staff has been working hard to build out programs for a variety of ages and in a variety of disciplines, ranging from the arts, to culinary and science learning, to athletics.
For the young chef or chemist, BGCR is pleased to introduce The Chemistry of Cooking taught by Jeff Goncalves, Senior Program Director and Joe Haskins, Program Coordinator! A blend of both science and the culinary arts, this informative, fun and interactive course will not only give members the opportunity to engage in hands-on experiments, they will also master delicious recipes while learning the chemistry behind their creations! The Chemistry of Cooking will take place on Monday afternoons from 5:00pm-6:30pm for youth in 1st-8th grade.
For our budding artists, Little Artists, Big Artwork, taught by BGCR’s very own Arts Coordinator Emily, will introduce youth in 1st-8th grade to a variety of art mediums, ranging from different types of painting, to drawing and sketching, even to clay! Participants will end the 6 week session with a range of different pieces of art they will be able to take home and proudly display for all to see! Little Artists, Big Artwork will take place on Tuesday afternoons from 5:00pm-6:30pm for youth in 1st-8th grade.
Ever wanted to learn the basics of America’s fastest-growing sport, taught by a true Ridgefield Tiger Legend? Now you can! In Lacrosse 101, taught by RHS Lacrosse Alumni, former Springfield College Lacrosse player, and current BGCR Program Manager Tim Cozens, players will have the opportunity to learn how to pass, catch, shoot and play the sport of lacrosse in a fun and laid back setting! All you need is a stick, no extra equipment necessary! Don’t have a lacrosse stick? Not a problem, Coach Tim has one you can borrow! Lacrosse 101 will be held on Wednesdays from 5:00pm-6:30pm starting February 28th for youth in 1st-3rd grade.
The Club is extremely excited to officially roll out these new programs! The fee for each specialty program is $200 and BGCR is happy to announce that not only will these programs be available to current after-school members, they are open for registration for ALL youth in our community. All programs launch the week of February 26th, and will run for 6 consecutive weeks.
