Thousands Gather as Luke Whitbeck Lights Ridgefield for the Holiday Season!

A Magical Night of Song, Santa, Lights and Love

On the heels of the Thanksgiving feast, tonight, Friday, November 29, thousands of community members descended upon the downtown area to see Main Street trees sparkle and celebrate the start of the holiday season! It was truly a sight to behold!

The incomparable Ira Joe Fisher lit up the event as Master of Ceremonies, spreading holiday cheer alongside the talented Ridgefield Theater Barn kids and the Ridgefield High School Madrigals. Together, they inspired the crowd with festive words, joyous cheer, and beautiful songs. Representing First Selectperson Rudy Marconi (who was visiting family for the holiday) Selectperson Barbara Manners extended a warm welcome to attendees and highlighted the vital role of the Holiday Trust Fund, made possible through generous private donations, in bringing events like this to life.

Just before Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their special elf arrived on a shiny red Fire Truck, Luke Whitbeck, a 5th-grade student who is battling Gaucher Disease, flipped the ceremonial switch to light up downtown Ridgefield!

After greeting guests on Main Street, Santa and Mrs. Claus settled in the “North Pole”, the patio of the Deborah Ann’s Sweet Shoppe, to greet children.

The holiday celebrations continue next week with the Downtown Ridgefield Holiday Stroll on December 6 and December 7. Learn more here.
