Fresh from the Hatch Chile Farm to Ridgefield, CT

Having lived in Taos New Mexico, Barbara Nevins, owner of Ridgefield's New Mexican eatery, Southwest Cafe, visits there each year during Hatch Chile season. Well, tis’ the season to be jolly (at least in Hatch, New Mexico and in Ridgefield CT). Nevins is fresh off the ole’ farm and she’s come with Hatch Chiles in hand.  Nevins not only met with her Hatch Chile farmer Bobby Berridge of Berridge Farm, but she actually helped to harvest the delicious green beauties.  And, just because Nevins is back in town, don’t fret- the organically grown Hatch Chiles are delivered fresh from New Mexico each week during harvest season.

“We just received another shipment of Hatch Chiles today,” says Nevins, who receives about 900 lbs of green chiles annually.

Southwest Café Chef Jeff Taibe is busy roasting Hatch Chiles to create fresh, flavorful dishes such as Traditional Green Chile Stew and Hatch Chile Roulette.

Southwest Café is located at 109 Danbury Road (The Marketplace at Copp’s Hill) and this New Mexican style café is open Monday through Sunday for lunch and dinner.

Get ‘em while they’re HOT!

Oh, did I mention that Southwest is celebrating 25 fabulous years? Things keep getting hotter (and better!)
