A Young Bill Gates? You Decide.

by Shane Donnelly

Meet Ridgefield High School senior and serial entrepreneur, Adam Huet. Adam, who started his first website when he was a junior, has been instrumental in developing and growing not one, but three businesses: Daytaro, Colupon, and ListYard

His first business, Daytaro, is a social media management and website design company that he co-founded with Juan Li Puma, another Ridgefield student. It all started with Adam and his partner, Juan, managing social media profiles. Soon, the Internet savvy students moved into the website design space because, they admit, “It was more profitable.” To date, they have created a multitude of websites for small businesses, both local and distant.  Adam admits that the greatest part of launching Daytaro was being able to hire his friends.  “I wanted them to share some of the experiences so they could learn what I have.” And while it was never about the money, Adam says, “I ended up making some spending cash.”  Ridgefield students, Paul Cooke and Luke Gallo, also joined the Daytaro team. “I knew that college was coming up and I wanted Daytaro to keep going,” Adam explained. “We had lots of websites that we needed to make and Juan and I couldn’t make them all.”

Colupon, a business that Adam was instrumental in growing, is a weekly deals website that targets college students. “Paying for college is getting more expensive every year so we want to help by giving the students access to coupons for local, small businesses,” Adam explained. It is a cost effective, easy to use service that Adam hopes will become a staple app on college student’s phones. Adam was introduced to Colupon by the Chief Executive, David Reunert, who is currently a freshman at Marist College. “This summer we are going to launch in the Hudson Valley at Marist College, Vassar College, The Culinary Institute of America and Dutchess Community College,” Adam proudly exclaimed. They have just finished their first round of funding, and by the end of the year Adam hopes for another, larger round, to expedite their expansion.

Had it not been for Hurricane Sandy, Adam may not have created ListYard. Adam, who braved the power outage in the basement of Town Hall, explains, “I had nothing else to do and that was the only place with Wi-Fi and power.” ListYard is a company that Huet hopes will change the way people think about exploring the Internet. “Currently, most people either search for something on Google or go to a website directly. "My goal is have ListYard be the third way we use the Internet,” Adam explains.

In reflection of his various pursuits, Adam added the following: “I've learned a lot over the past year and a half and I still have a lot left to learn but I'm proud of myself for being able to do this. I can only imagine what Colupon has in store for my future.”

Stay tuned.
