Ben Taylor (son of James Taylor) brings his acoustic style to the Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday night

Singer/songwriter Ben Taylor brings his impeccable acoustic style and new album Listening to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, June 21

"My music is a huge amalgamation of things and influence and styles, but it's very much made up of music that my parents made that I heard growing up," said Ben, son of folk-rock icons James Taylor and Carly Simon, Ben Taylor’s life has always been centered on music. He is the same Ben Taylor whom millions got to see on the January 28th episode of “The Bachelor”. With an impeccable acoustic style and a new album Listening, due out in August, Ben Taylor will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, June 21, at 8 p.m. His fourth album flawlessly fuses folk, pop, soul, urban, reggae and country, and is, as Ben says, “an evolution”. Special guests are Jeff LeBlanc and Kath Buckell, whose voice is described as rich and passionate evoking the style of Judy Collins and Joan Baez. Jeff LeBlanc is a folk-rock indie singer/songwriter whose talents have taken him on tours throughout the east coast. Bistro 7 (Ethan Allen Highway, Wilton) is offering a free appetizer or glass of house wine with dinner the night of the show when tickets/stubs are presented. This show is part of the Doyle Coffin Architecture Singer/Songwriter Series with media sponsor WFUV 90.7fm.

Ben looks very much like his famous father James Taylor and has a voice akin to his as well. While young Taylor has made efforts to distance his career from that of his parents, comparisons are inevitable. His solo album, Another Run Around the Sun, featured backup vocals by his famous mother Carly Simon and sister, also a musician, with Ben on vocals and guitar, Larry Ciancia on drums, and actor Kevin Bacon on guitar. Ben’s third album was the critically acclaimed The Legend of Kung Folk Part 1, which had CNN commenting that the album “…reflects the broad palette of pop” and Blurt Magazine writing, “For some time now Ben’s been busy carving out a unique niche for himself in the music world.”   Ben himself once described his work as “organically handcrafted songs”.
