Ridgefield can expect "aggressive" tree trimming

After all the superstorms over the past couple years, Ridgefield has experienced first-hand the damage that trees can cause. This year's tree trimming is underway, and pruning and sometimes even removing our trees now can significantly reduce damage from potential hurricanes and snowstorms that may come our way. 

First Selectman, Rudy Marconi, explained "A large number of trees will be removed, after Irene, Snowtober, Alfred, and Sandy we need to be a more aggressive about tree trimming."Residents can expect to see white Lewis Tree Service trucks working around town, particularly around Peaceable Street, High Ridge, Haviland, and the downtown area."

In places where dangerous trees are on private property, Connecticut Light and Power will ask the owner's permission to trim or remove the tree. Residents may find papers on their doors requesting permission to work on a particular tree. Marconi asks residents to be positive about CL&P's work, which will hopefully minimize the number of power outages we experience this year.

CL&P has hired Lewis Tree Service to trim our trees away from roads, electrical and phone lines. CL&P spent $500,000 in our town on arborists. "Our main roads and feeder roads are their primary focus," says Marconi.
