A Better Chance Winter Gala Honoring Philip and Christine Lodewick is February 2

A Better Chance in Ridgefield (RABC) cordially invites you to attend its Winter 'Hearts of Gold' Gala, a glittering dinner dance and fundraiser honoring Philip and Christine Lodewick on Friday, February 2nd at the Salem Golf Club.

Ira Joe Fisher will emcee the evening which will include cocktails, dinner, dancing, an opportunity to meet the current RABC scholars and a testimonial from an alumna.

Honorees Philip and Christine Lodewick were instrumental in the creation of Ridgefield in 1985 and to this day maintain a deeply caring and influential role with the organization. Their strong belief and commitment to the overall mission of Ridgefield ABC has been the heart of the program, which has altered the course of many talented, determined young women’s lives.

In addition to RABC, the Lodewicks have been stalwart, hands-on supporters of a lengthy list of Ridgefield community organizations, including the League of Women Voters, St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, the Ridgefield Garden Club, and the Ridgefield Library.  Their deep commitment to education extends well beyond Ridgefield to the University of Connecticut Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Women’s Philanthropy Council.

Ridgefield ABC, founded in 1985, is a local chapter of the national not-for-profit A Better Chance, Inc., which recruits and places talented, highly motivated minority students in outstanding public and private high schools. The program’s mission is to give these young students a better chance at attaining a meaningful college education and developing into leaders for tomorrow. To date, fifty-one young women have graduated from Ridgefield High School and gone on to attend competitive colleges and universities around the country.  While attending Ridgefield High School, RHS scholars contribute to RHS and the community through participation in athletics, the arts, and many local philanthropies.
