Ridgefield Girl Scouts Collect Soccer Gear for Bridgeport School

Sophie Desmarais and her friend, Allie Price, are cadettes in Girl Scout troop 50465. They both love soccer and play the sport. For their Silver Award project, they decided that they wanted to share their love of the game with someone else.

Cesar Batalla is an elementary school in Bridgeport, CT for PreK-8th grade. It serves one of the poorest communities in the state and 100% of the students qualify for state-funded lunches. Last year Brighter
Lives For Kids Foundation ran two successful soccer programs in the spring and fall and they are hoping to do this again this spring.

The girls are looking for new or gently used soccer socks, soccer balls, soccer cleats, and shin guards for students aged 4-10. There will be collection bins at Branchville Elementary School, East Ridge Middle School, Tiger Sports, the Rec Center, and the Boys and Girls Club.

The collection bins have already been dropped off at the sites and will be staying there through the month of February into early March. The items dropped off should be physical items.
