Ridgefield resident George Schuster to represent the Town in dance competition to benefit Fisher House

Fisher House - Dancing With Our Heroes

George Schuster will represent the Town of Ridgefield in a dance competition supporting Fisher House.

Fisher House is a home away from home for the families of US military members and veterans recovering from injuries.  Operating off the generosity of the public, the lodging at each house is free so that families can stay with loved ones without worry.  There are 54 Fisher Houses nationwide.  Since 1990 they have provided services for over 142,000 military families who have stayed more that 3.6 million days supporting their soldier during rehabilitation.  Fisher houses have saved these families more than $167 million in lodging and transportation costs.  The Connecticut Fisher House is on the campus of the VA Hospital in West Haven.  It was completed in December and is taking guests in February.

On Saturday, March 10th, 2018, a banquet gala will take place at the Mystic Marriott in Groton, CT, and serve to raise funds for the support of the Fisher House in New Haven.  The event will include general dancing, a banquet dinner, silent auction, professional show, and of course the Dancing with Our Heroes Ballroom Dance Competition featuring US military veterans and active duty members, partnered with professional ballroom dance instructors from Fred Astaire Dance Studios in the New England Area.  Winners will be selected by a panel fo judges, and audience voting.

Please go to www.dancingwithourheroes.com and vote to support this meaningful and important cause.
