Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield Receives Summer Camp Scholarship Fund Grant from Thrift Shop

The Ridgefield Thrift Shop is bringing joy to many local nonprofits. Yesterday, we announced that they donated $15,000 to Ridgefield Social Services, and today, we learned that they gave a grant to The Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield.

"Wow! March has been a really great month for the Club! We received another gift from our friends at the Ridgefield Thrift Shop, a $6,500 grant for our Summer Camp Scholarship Fund!" the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield announced on their Facebook Page.

In 2017, The Club provided over $125,000 in scholarships for our summer camp and after-school programs to over 100 different families. "This donation from the Ridgefield Thrift Shop will help us continue that in 2018. We are so grateful to everyone at the Ridgefield Thrift Shop for helping us open the doors to great futures for all our Club members!" the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield explains.

The Ridgefield Thrift Shop moved from Catoonah Street to a very visible and larger location at 20 Governor Street in May of 2017. Since then, the shop has grown leaps and bounds, doubling their profits and daily foot traffic. They were recently named Business of the Year by the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce. The Thrift Shop is staffed by volunteers.

The Thrift Shop is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which has supported the Ridgefield community for 80 years! The Thrift Shop goal is to empower and support local philanthropic organizations through the sale of generously donated merchandise at our store. Last year the Thrift Shop donated $160,000 to 40 organizations. "There are three essential elements to the success of the Thrift Shop – our donors, our customers, and our volunteers," they told HamletHub last spring.

Thank you to all of our residents who shop at the Thrift Shop and donate to the Thrift Shop!
