Library Receives Generous Donation from The Ridgefield Thrift Shop

Ridgefield Social Services, The Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield and Ridgefield Library - what do these three local nonprofits have in common? In addition to providing needed services for our community, all three nonprofits recently received a visit from Sue Manning. And, Manning came bearing gifts from The Ridgefield Thrift Shop.

Ridgefield Library wrote on their Facebook Page, "Sue Manning surprised us with a generous donation of $10,000 from the Ridgefield Thrift Shop to the Ridgefield Library. The donation will be used for new Children’s Books and for special programs for all ages. Thank you to Sue and all the Thrift Store volunteers for supporting the Library and so many other wonderful organizations here in Ridgefield through your dedication and hard work!"

The Ridgefield Thrift Shop moved from Catoonah Street to a very visible and larger location at 20 Governor Street in May of 2017. Since then, the shop has grown leaps and bounds, doubling their profits and daily foot traffic. They were recently named Business of the Year by the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce. The Thrift Shop is staffed by volunteers.

The Thrift Shop is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which has supported the Ridgefield community for 80 years! The Thrift Shop goal is to empower and support local philanthropic organizations through the sale of generously donated merchandise at our store. Last year the Thrift Shop donated $160,000 to 40 organizations. "There are three essential elements to the success of the Thrift Shop – our donors, our customers, and our volunteers," they told HamletHub last spring.

Thank you to all of our residents who shop at the Thrift Shop and donate to the Thrift Shop!
