Thrift Shop Gives $10,000 Grant to Founders Hall

Surprise gave way to elation when Toni Maiolo (a Ridgefield Thrift Shop volunteer and Founders Hall member) gave a  $10,000 check to Founders Hall to support its hobby and sport programs, which benefits billiards players (back), bridge classes, bocce and much more.

“We were blown away by the amount,” said Cindy Nesbitt (right), development director at Founders Hall. The Thrift Shop has consistently supported Founders Hall, but with a significant increase in sales and donations at its new location, it increased its donation to Founders Hall five-fold.

“What an amazing organization,” said Founders Hall executive director Grace Weber (left) of the Thrift Shop, which is staffed entirely by volunteers and donates all proceeds to community not-for-profits. “We are so grateful for their grant, and I encourage all of our members to shop there.”

Founders Hall is a donor-supported education and recreation center for people age 60 and older. Along with its hobby and sports program, it offers more than 250 semester courses, speakers and seminars each year. For more information, www.founders-hall.org.
