ROARing with Thanks for The Ridgefield Thrift Shop

A Thrift Shop volunteer made yet another local nonprofit very happy! Last week, ROAR received a visit from Thrift Shop volunteer, Sabrina. And, she came bearing gifts - in the form of a grant which she gave to ROAR Director, Kerry Dobson.

"Thank you to Sandra and Ridgefield Thrift Shop, who are a treasure in our community, for their very generous grant donation," said ROAR.

Sabrina even had a chance to say hello to two of ROAR cats, Teddy & Bernadette (Teddy will soon go to a forever home but Bernadette is up for adoption!)

"We are super grateful, and their grant will help us to care for cats and dogs while we find them their forever homes," said ROAR.

The Ridgefield Thrift Shop moved from Catoonah Street to a very visible and larger location at 20 Governor Street in May of 2017. Since then, the shop has grown leaps and bounds, doubling their profits and daily foot traffic. They were recently named Business of the Year by the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce. The Thrift Shop is staffed by volunteers.

The Thrift Shop is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which has supported the Ridgefield community for 80 years! The Thrift Shop goal is to empower and support local philanthropic organizations through the sale of generously donated merchandise at our store. Last year the Thrift Shop donated $160,000 to 40 organizations. "There are three essential elements to the success of the Thrift Shop – our donors, our customers, and our volunteers," they told HamletHub last spring.

Thank you to all of our residents who shop at the Thrift Shop and donate to the Thrift Shop!
