In a rare Connecticut appearance, Tommy James & The Shondells performed at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday night.
The concert benefited End Polio Now and was made possible by The Rotary Club of Ridgefield. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation matched 200% per ticket match to support Polio Plus. According to Rotarian Joe Savino, the sold-out performance raised over $225,000 dollars, continuing the nonprofit's quest to eradicate polio.
Watch a video clip of the concert courtesy of Event Producer Brad Joblin here. Joblin said, "In 1969 Tommy James discovered the band Alive ‘N Kicking. He wrote and produced the song “Tighter and Tighter” for them. It became a #1 hit in 1970. We reunited them here in Ridgefield, after 48 years!"
Tommy James & the Shondells have sold over 100 million singles with hits such as “ Crimson and Clover”, “I think we are alone now” and “Crystal Blue Persuasion”.
