Looking Glass Animal Rescue Receives Rachael Ray Save Them All Grant from Best Friends Animal Society to Help Save Homeless Pets

Looking Glass Animal Rescue (“LGAR”) is pleased to have received a Rachael Ray Save Them All grant from Best Friends Animal Society for its Saving Lives and Completing Families program to help save the lives of homeless pets living in the Northeast.

This grant allows us to continue with our special focus on rehabilitating animals that we believe are truly most in need; those “seen-but-not-seen” animals that are considered not easily adoptable due to physical and/or psychological illness or injury. Without a rescue outlet, these animals would otherwise be euthanized due to their issues. This grant helps us fulfill our promise toward healing animals in both body and mind and finding forever homes for all the homeless pets in our care,” said Founder and President, Jody Harris-Stern. “Our goal will be to responsibly place 100 dogs and cats with loving and committed families in 2018. We appreciate the support of Best Friends Animal Society in helping us achieve our mission.”

Looking Glass Animal Rescue is an active partner in Best Friends Network which offers help and support to animal rescue groups and shelters that save lives in their communities.

When you choose to adopt your next pet you are becoming part of the solution right here in our community, said Harris-Stern.

About Looking Glass Animal Rescue

Looking Glass Animal Rescue is an award-winning nonprofit volunteer-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing animals from high-kill shelters, hoarding situations, puppy mills, animal fighting rings and more. While we welcome all animals in need, we specifically focus on animals that are often overlooked due to age, breed, special need, illness or injury and frequently requiring immediate, often costly medical attention that shelters are unable to provide. Without a rescue outlet, these animals would otherwise be euthanized due to their issues. Looking Glass Animal Rescue looks past these issues, seeing these animals not for what they are today, but what they can become tomorrow – healthy, happy family members with tons of love to give.

About Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends Animal Society is a leading national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America's shelters. In addition to running lifesaving programs in partnership with more than 2,200 animal welfare groups across the country, Best Friends has regional centers in New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Salt Lake City, and operates the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals. Founded in 1984, Best Friends is a pioneer in the no-kill movement and has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters nationwide from 17 million per year to about 1.5 million. That means there are still more than 4,100 dogs and cats killed every day in shelters, just because they don’t have safe places to call home. We are determined to get that number to zero by the year 2025. Working collaboratively with shelters, rescue groups, other organizations and you, we will end the killing and Save Them All.
