Ridgefield nonprofits invites you to honor our veterans by writing a letter to a military child

In honor of Veterans Day, BearHug invites you to write a letter to a military child

On Monday, November 12, BearHug, Inc., a non-profit organization founded by Ridgefielder Campbell Kinsman, is helping the children of our United States servicemen and women deployed overseas by holding a letter-writing event at The Angel Cooperative.

This event is open to all ages! "Come write a letter to a military child thanking them for our service to our country. Many children are deeply affected by their parents’ deployment and service to our country," says Kinsman.

The Angel Cooperative is located at 51 Ethan Allen Highway in Ridgefield.

Message from BearHug founder, Campbell Kinsman

There are approximately 1.9 million military children in the USA and 900,000 of these children have both parents deployed at once. A parent's deployment can come at a cost to a child's emotional well-being.  It's been proven that military children can experience mental illness, trauma, and related issues. BearHug reaches out to these children and gives them care packages during their time of need. This provides the children with comfort and a sense that someone is here for them while they're struggling.

If you know a child whose parent is deployed, please contact BearHug.  All information is confidential.
