Saint Mary School Garners Support on #GivingTuesday, Raises More Than $41,000

Last Tuesday, November 27, people all over the globe engaged in a philanthropic movement known as #GivingTuesday. Here in the United States, $380,000,000 funds were raised with an average gift size of $105.00.

Saint Mary School in Ridgefield, who decided to focus on a participation goal rather than a dollar amount, saw a huge increase in charitable donations this year. Supporters near and far answered the school’s call to “Feel the Joy...Fuel our Mission”, Saint Mary School 2018 campaign theme.

“We had an unprecedented success on Giving Tuesday, explains Amy Dowding, the school’s Director of Advancement. Saint Mary School raised a whopping $41,022 during Tuesday’s charitable giving initiative, surpassing their 2018 goal of 200 donors. “We had a 129% increase in the number of donors from last year,” said Dowding.

100% of Saint Mary School faculty and staff donated to the annual  Saint Mary Fund, the cornerstone of all fundraising efforts at the school, contributing to the overall success of the campaign.

Dowding said, “Giving Tuesday galvanized our entire community and demonstrated the commitment of our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, alumni, alumni parents, faculty and staff, former faculty and friends. This level of support is a testament of the support of our mission.”
