ROAR to Honor Mitch Ancona at Annual Gala on March 9

The Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue (ROAR) will hold their Annual Gala on March 9, 2019 at Le Chateau, South Salem NY. Since 2013, the popular fundraising event has honored a local business whose owner is committed to the mission of ROAR. 

ROAR has announced that the 2019 Business Award will be bestowed upon Ancona’s Wines & Liquors and the store’s owner, Mitch Ancona. 

A huge community supporter and philanthropist, Ancona continually helps ROAR to achieve their mission of providing animals in need with the same love, care and compassion we show our own family pets. Since ROAR opened our doors in 2005, the nonprofit has placed more than 5,000 neglected and unwanted cats and dogs in caring homes throughout Ridgefield and our surrounding towns.

Ancona will accept his award at the Gala on March 9.

ROAR explains, “Mitch loves animals, supports ROAR and its mission -  offering his Ancona Wines and Liquor Stores for charity-based fundraisers and donations.  He gives consistent philanthropic support to the Ridgefield-area community.”

2019 marks 85 years in business for Ancona’s Wines & Liquors! During the more than eight decades of operation, the Ancona family has stayed true to their company mission and culture of supporting the local community. ‘When my grandfather started this business, one of his objectives was to be as supportive of the community as he possibly could. We carry on that tradition today,” says Ancona.

Since opening his third location in 2018 at 13B Governor Street in Ridgefield, Mitch has donated more than $5,000.00 to local organizations, including the RVNA, Wooster School, Ridgefield Library, and ROAR.
