Wine Tasting Event to Benefit Disability Rights Organization

Calling all oenophiles! WeCAHR is holding a wine tasting event on Saturday, February 2nd, at Max40 Wine & Spirits in Danbury, with all net proceeds benefiting WeCAHR’s advocacy programs.  WeCAHR (pronounced “we care”) is the Western Connecticut Association for Human Rights, a 501(c)(3) advocacy organization, which has provided services to the Greater Danbury area since 1977.

Attendees will have the opportunity to taste a wide variety of wines from around the world, with corresponding tasting notes to be provided by Max40. Hops-lovers should not despair; there will be a range of beers to sample in addition to wine. Everyone who attends will receive a tasting glass to take home and free hors d’oeuvres. Plus, the organizers are planning a silent auction and some exciting raffle items.

WeCAHR advocates for the civil and human rights of people with disabilities in this region. WeCAHR partners with families to create and promote personal success, independence, and community involvement for children and adults with disabilities. WeCAHR has an office in Danbury and serves 9 towns in the Danbury area.

Approximately 200 people are touched by WeCAHR services each year, such as direct advocacy on their behalf or information provided at WeCAHR’s free educational seminars and events. WeCAHR has a part-time executive director and two part-time staff members.

The event is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, February 2. Max40 Wine & Spirits is located at 40A Mill Plain Road in Danbury.

Tickets are $25 each, and are available online by visiting WeCAHR’s website, www.wecahr.org, and then following the link to Eventbrite. Or, visit Eventbrite directly at https://wecahrwine.eventbrite.com. The snow date is February 23rd.

Sponsorships and supporter ticket packages are also available.

“This event will provide much needed funds to help our small staff support the families who contact us for assistance,” said Christina Calabro, executive director of WeCAHR. “We not only advocate for people with disabilities, but we also strive to teach them and their families how to advocate for themselves, whether it is an education issue, employment problem or a dispute related to personal matters.”

More information about WeCAHR, including how to contact WeCAHR if assistance is needed, is available at www.wecahr.org or by calling WeCAHR at 203-792-3540.
