Eight Ridgefielders (aka the Ridgefield 8) will heat up summer and become local legends - bocce style
On Friday, June 21 beginning at 7 am, Ancona's parking lot will home to the World's Longest Bocce Marathon as 8 Ridgefielders take to bocce for thirty-six straight hours (or until somebody falls down!) all in the name of local nonprofits - ROAR and Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield (BGCR).
"The Club is honored to be a beneficiary of the Ridgefield 8 Bocce World Record Event!" said Mike Flynn, Executive Director of BGCR.
The bocce tournament will be played on hallowed ground - the Ancona's parking lot is where Mitch Ancona set The Guinness Book of World Records for "most champagne bottles sabered in one minute" (click on the video and check it out!)

The Ridgefield 8 proclaim that the record will shatter at approximately 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 22 when they top the World's Longest Bocce Marathon record of 32 hours and four minutes.
During the final hours of play, and after the enshrinement ceremony, a family event beckons with music, food, refreshments and bouncy castles for the kids!
