Ridgefield Business Owner Makes a Difference, One Step at a Time

Shoes are made for walking, Consign Envy thanks the community

This summer, Maura Sullivan, the owner of Consign Envy on Catoonah Street, collected shoes for an impoverished community in Appalachia.

Sullivan said, "A recent mission trip from Grace Community Church to Appalachia, revealed that in this impoverished community the most affordable mode of transportation is by foot - and that durable shoes are an unaffordable luxury."

Carly Dimm assisted Maura Sullivan with bringing the many shoes collected during the month of August to Grace Community Church. From there they will be sent to the appropriate locations.

"I just want to say a huge thank you to all who took the time to come in and drop off needed shoes. I always find this town so gracious and willing to help out others when needed," says Sullivan. Not resting on her laurels, she adds, "My heart presently goes out to the devastation in the Bahamas, and I am presently looking to see how we can donate to them as well."
