The Women’s Center receives donation from Ridgefield Apartments

Ridgefield Apartments, Ridgefield’s largest provider of apartment rentals, has partnered with the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury to provide furniture donations and warehousing space for donated merchandise. This fall, Ridgefield Apartments donated furniture for five apartments, including beds, tables, sofas, housewares, and TVs. Since the Women’s Center does not have the space to store all of this furniture, Ridgefield Apartments has also funded a storage unit in Danbury to warehouse the items as well as provided the logistics for moving the items from Ridgefield to Danbury. The Women’s Center will now have a central location to store all of their donated merchandise for easier distribution.

“Homelessness is a challenge across our country and specifically the clients of our residential shelter who are fleeing violence with minimal belongings.  When we place clients into a rapid rehousing program, they have the opportunity to live in a safe environment and the furniture Mr. Zemo donated will help make their safe spaces a home.

When we met Mr. Zemo, he saw we had a need for support, such as movers and storage, and he offered to help provide for these services,” stated Sarah Bush, Shelter Manager and Housing Coordinator.

“It warms our hearts to know that The Women's Center has such a kind, generous community, supporting us and the clients we serve. We could not do this work without you. Thank you for being kind, you're making a difference.“

The Women’s Center of Greater Danbury has been a safe haven as the sole provider of services to victims of domestic and sexual violence in the Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield County areas.

Each year, the Center serves over 30,000 individuals from our area communities.  Our free and confidential services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Center’s key areas of focus include emergency shelter and support services, counseling and advocacy, crisis intervention, and community education, primary prevention and training.

All funds provided to the Center support our critically needed domestic violence, sexual assault and resource services for adults and children in our 13-town service area, including:  Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, Kent, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Sherman, and Washington.
