RSO All Hearts Auction Thanks our Community Partners!

The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra (RSO) is excited to present the RSO All Hearts Holiday Auction, online December 3rd-7th! The proceeds from this special fundraiser will benefit RSO musicians who have not been able to perform with the orchestra since prior to the onset of the health crisis.

While planning and coordinating the auction, the RSO has been highlighting via social media the more than 70 local merchants, service providers, non-profits and individuals that have donated to fundraiser. These community partners are certainly worth recognizing, and over the time between now and the auction the RSO would like to acknowledge their support and their generosity toward our community.

Today we feature, Director Jessica McNamara of the Ridgefield Suzuki School. www.RidgefieldSuzukiSchool.com

What did you do before starting Ridgefield Suzuki School?

I taught orchestra in the Westport Public Schools for 11 years before starting Ridgefield Suzuki School.

Why do you do what you do?

To the depths of my being, I believe that music is good for children. I legitimately do not get sick of hearing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. I derive such joy seeing a child’s face light up when they accomplish something or hear beautiful music coming out of their instrument that they created, or seeing a proud parent’s face while watching their child perform at a recital. I believe so deeply in the Suzuki Method and creating noble human beings through the study of music. That is why I do what I do.

What is your interest in classical music? Tell us about it!

My husband and I are both music teachers and musicians. Our children both study music and play instruments. I practice with each of my children daily and we have music on in our household all the time. At 6 and 3 respectively, they would argue in the car over whether we were going to listen to "Egmont or Tchaikof-thky 4"!  We play 'name that tune' at dinner with things like Firebird, Beethoven 7, and Mahler 5. So yes, we have a deep interest and love of classical music. : )

The RSO would also like to thank 109 Cheese & Wine, Accente Salon, ACT of Connecticut, Adam Broderick Salon, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Audrey Road, Barbara Faye Advising. Barn Door Restaurant, Bella Home, C. Design, Chris & Videen Bennett and Bernard’s Restaurant.
