Ridgefield Democrats’ Holiday Stroll Popup on Saturday Focuses on Ridgefield Food Pantry/Emergency Fund

Ridgefield Democratic Town Committee (DTC) will have a popup location on Main Street in Ridgefield this Saturday, December 4, 2021, 10am-12 noon, at which revelers and shoppers can warm up by sipping a free cup of hot cocoa, nibbling on a cookie, and making a donation via their cell phone to the Town of Ridgefield’s Food Pantry/Emergency Fund.

The DTC’s Funds for Food Drive, which will continue through December, is meant to help address food insecurity at this time of year.

“People who stop at our popup at the corner of Main Street and Bailey Avenue not only can enjoy free refreshments but also can make a difference for our neighbors down the street or across town,” says DTC Chair Joe Shapiro. “Pandemic-related relief efforts have been substantial, but some people still need a helping hand, especially during the holidays.”

Given the unique nutritional needs of each household and the need to avoid waste or spoilage, the Town of Ridgefield’s Department of Social Services now accepts only monetary contributions. The funds will be used to purchase gift cards that recipients can use at local grocery stories.
