Lewis Fund Grant Supports Successful Battle of Ridgefield Programming at KTM&HC

Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center thanks the Wadsworth R. Lewis Fund for awarding the museum a grant that supported the development and implementation of collaborative, community-focused Battle of Ridgefield-themed programming. The Lewis Fund grant allowed KTM&HC to provide engaging tours and activities for free to all visitors during the town-wide commemoration of the 245^th anniversary of the Battle of Ridgefield last month.

“Like so many of our community partners,” said Board President Rhonda Hill, “KTM&HC was thrilled to see the large crowds of curious, thoughtful, and enthusiastic visitors of all ages who came to learn about Ridgefield’s history during the weekend of April 30-May 1. With the support of the Lewis Fund grant, our museum staff and volunteers delivered 28 (mostly sold out!) tours over the course of two days and engaged hundreds of visitors in various onsite activities.” Individuals had the opportunity to explore questions such as, “What is it like to experience war at home?” and “How might residents of T. Keeler’s Inn have felt, and what might they have done, in the days leading up to the Battle of Ridgefield?” as well as make past/present connections between 18^th- and 21^st-century modes of communication and news-sharing.

KTM&HC is grateful for the generous and long-term support of the Lewis Fund, which awards grants to non-profit organizations for activities that are conducted in whole or in part for the benefit or use of residents of Ridgefield and its vicinity. We are so pleased that the Lewis Fund recognizes our commitment to providing Ridgefielders of all ages with an appreciation for the significant local history of our community and an understanding of the diversity of perspectives and experiences of individuals who lived on our site.
