For the last eight years, the Prospector Theater has redefined the movie-going experience and dazzled the world with its mission of competitive and integrated employment for people with disabilities.
With over 120 employees, 74% of whom self-identify with a disability, the Prospector has been a beacon of hope, welcoming over 750,000
moviegoers since opening in 2014.
Now, that magic, or as they say “sparkle”, is popping up on the doorsteps of millions of homes across the country.
Under their Prospector Popcorn label, and through a dedicated e-commerce platform, the Prospector began shipping their signature gourmet popcorn - including a variety of different flavors like Belgian Chocolate Toffee, Classic Caramel, Chicago Style, and Buffalo Ranch.
Within weeks, influencers on the popular social media platform TikTok took notice of this tasty treat and incredible mission, posting review videos that generated over 3,000,000 views.
“One of our main goals even prior to the pandemic was figuring out ways we could spread our mission beyond our brick and mortar business here in Ridgefield,” said Ryan Wenke, Director of Operations & Technology at the Prospector. “So many meaningful jobs go into creating one bag
of popcorn, and seeing that hard work take off in the virtual space is incredibly rewarding to all of us.”
