‘Art In The Windows’ 

Downtown New Canaan Storefront Exhibition, New Canaan

Friday, June 2, 5:00 - 7:00 pm

Come down for an Art Stroll beginning at the corner of Elm Street & South Avenue. Organized by the Carriage Barn Arts Center and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, this exhibition is an opportunity for artists and local businesses in the community to celebrate New Canaan’s vibrant business district and the arts. The Art Stroll will also include an opening reception at the Handwright Gallery for an exhibit by Cultural Alliance member Sally Frank, "Impressions,” that includes her recent photopolymer etchings and woodcuts. On view through June 24th.

“ASSASSINS” The Musical by Stephen Sondheim

It takes a musical genius like Stamford’s former resident, Stephen Sondheim, to weave presidential assassins - and would-be assassins - into a musical. Our nation's most notorious assassins gather on stage to violently pursue a twisted American Dream. This multiple Tony Award-winning theatrical tour-de-force” combines Sondheim's signature blend of intelligent lyrics and beautiful music with a panoramic story of our nation's culture. Perhaps the most controversial musical ever written - and not for audiences under the age of 16. Running weekends through June 17th.

“NEXT TO NORMAL”

Ridgefield Theater Barn

Fri, June 2 and Sat, June 3,  8:00 pm

It's opening night for this Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning contemporary rock musical, with book & lyrics by Brian Yorkey & music by Tom Kitt. Directed by Matt Austin & Jessica Chesbro, with musical direction by Sarah Fay, the story centers on a mother who struggles with bipolar disorder and the effects that managing her illness has on her family. Running Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm through June 24th. 

Invitational Art Show Preview Party

New Pond Farm Education Center, Redding

Mingle with artists and art lovers while enjoying a signature cocktail, local wine, brews, and festive bites at a biennial exhibit showcasing artwork by some of the region’s finest artists. Including a silent auction, art demonstrations, and activities for children and adults -  all celebrating the timeless themes of nature and agrarian life inspired by the farm property. “The Secret Garden” with Norwalk Metropolitan Youth Ballet

Not one, but two opportunities to see a beautiful original production of a ballet directed by Adam Holms. The Ballet will travel from the wonders of India to the magic of a forgotten English garden. Before it became a hit Broadway show, Chazz Palminteri performed the one man show of the book and film, A Bronx Tale -- about his true life story of growing up in the Bronx -- on the stage of The Ridgefield Playhouse. Now, after winning multiple awards and performing the show more than 900 times on stages around the world, Palminteri is back with the original one man show.
