Ridgefield Main Street Project Enters Final Stages of Completion

New traffic lights and signalization work begin on Sunday, January 15

The final stages of the Main Street Project will begin Sunday evening, January 15.  New traffic light poles, wiring, traffic lights, and pedestrian crossing signals will be installed between Governor Street and Prospect Street, including the intersection at Bailey Avenue.

Enhanced traffic light signalization will also be included as part of this significant upgrade. This work will ultimately allow traffic to flow more efficiently and further reduce congestion along Main Street.

It is anticipated that this work will conclude by March 1, pending any delays due to the weather. All work will be done during the overnight hours, from 8pm to 4am.

Residual concrete work at the corners will be completed as part of the addition of new poles and traffic lights.

Finally, permanent striping along Main Street and at all intersection crosswalks will be in place during the early Spring as the weather improves.

“The Project has enhanced the beauty and safety of downtown and will create a smoother flow of traffic. It is my strong belief that the outcome of the Project will be one that all Ridgefielders will be proud of,” states First Selectman Rudy Marconi.
