Ridgefield Farmers Market is BACK at Jesse Lee Commons this Saturday, August 12 from 10am to 2pm! The Market has been wildly successful with hundreds of locals enjoying farm-fresh goodies as well as a whole lot of camaraderie!
Thanks to Farmers Market founder Corrin Arasa and founding sponsors Fairfield County Bank and Karla Murtaugh Homes.
Here, Corrin provides her Market pics and a sneak peek of this week's happenings.
It’s a market week! Hooray! So much yummy goodness coming at ya on the Jesse Lee Green this week. Plus we’ll be making flower crowns with the kiddos alongside two great local musicians.
Tomatoes
The farms are abundant with all manner of fresh, ripe, juicy tomatoes. It’s peak season so I’ll be stocking up. Nothing like a nice August Caprese salad along with Farmers and Cook’s amazing Sourdough Olive Oil Focaccia Bread (see image #3).
Corn
It’s going to be a short corn season this year so get it while you can. Rachel’s Salsa will have corn salsa this week. She wakes up at the crack of dawn and makes it each day before the market so it’s super fresh.
Forest Pastured Berkshire Pork from Henny Penny Farm
Henny Penny is bringing their Forest Pastured Berkshire Pork this week! I’m really excited to try this. Along with their usual spread of goat's milk soaps and wool. And this week a few jars of mid-summer honey were collected right here in Ridgefield. But they will go fast, so if honey is on your list, go there first.
Cloudy Lane's Vegan Blueberry Cobbler Donuts
Cloudy Lane Bakery is back with their August flavor- a Vegan Blueberry Cobbler Donut. It’s glazed with a lemon maple glaze and topped with a cinnamon and coconut sugar crumble (see image #2)
Cucumber Mint Lime Ice Pops from Bees Knees
A pack of Cucumber Mint Lime ice pops from Bees Knees: Trust me on this one, they are straight up amazing. I’ve been eating them like crazy- and with zero guilt.
Ideal Fish special
Ideal Fish has a special on Barramundi this week, buy one get one 50% off.
Lunch pics
For lunch, I’d go for the Rasta Pasta salad from Rasta Rant or a sandwich from Farmers and Cooks- fresh bread and cheese, local greens. So fresh, so clean :)
Other things on my shopping list this week:
* Pure by Sha Sha’s rich and creamy body butter
* bag of freshly roasted Quartertone Coffee
* sauce bowl from Five Hundred by Fives (perfect for homemade dressing)
* bone broth for my pup Bodie so I can put it in ice cube trays for a nice summer treat
