Why does the summer always seem to zip by so quickly? I can’t believe this last week was spent gearing up for the start of school again. Back-to-school shopping, books, pencils and first day swag were all priorities. For many folks it has also meant travel to universities, drop-offs, excitement mixed with tears, and the start of a new time in life for parents and children alike.
We are fortunate here in Ridgefield to benefit from an exceptional education system – one that supports students and offers unprecedented access to higher levels of learning. The administration, teachers and tax base afford our children an incredible opportunity. Not a day goes by that I don’t recognize how fortunate we are to live in this spectacular gem of a town.
This past year, I joined the Board of Ridgefield A Better Chance (RABC). Nationally, A Better Chance is the preeminent resource for identifying, recruiting and developing leaders among young people of color throughout the United States. RABC welcomes six returning and two new freshmen scholars each year to study at Ridgefield High School and live together in town. The mission of the organization is to provide academically talented and highly motivated young women of color opportunities by providing educational, social, and cultural enrichment. I am proud to say, “Welcome Home!” to our new and returning RABC scholars.

In addition, every year we host a fabulous Golf Outing allowing community members to bond, one-up each other and ultimately raise money! On Monday, September 11, a day of togetherness and remembrance, RABC invites you to join us at the Ridgewood Country Club beginning at 10:30am for a fun afternoon of golf and lunch at the course, followed by cocktails and dinner at the Club with the RABC Scholars.
