I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with lots of laughs and delicious eats! As we approach the height of the Holidays, I can share that I very much appreciate deals during this ‘spending season’. And what better way to save money than by taking advantage of the deep discounts offered this holiday weekend?
If you’re thinking of listing your home for sale after the Festive Season, or if you just want to do some home improvements, here are some common updates that add value to your home and/or get it sold quicker. And if you’re not brave enough to face the crowds on Black Friday, Cyber Monday offers a good option to bring your home into the 21st century.
Light Up Your Life
While it can be tempting to run to your nearest big-box home improvement store for basic lighting fixtures, invest some time online investigating specialty lighting stores and any discounts they’ll offer this week. You might be surprised at the ‘wow’ factor a new chandelier or sconce can make. Often the focal point of a room, new lighting utilizing LED technology can save you money in addition to freshening up a dated foyer or bathroom.
Accents Are Key
No need to change out all your furniture…just accent it! Throw pillows, blankets, plants, and unique pottery or artwork go a long way in creating a personal paradise. Home décor stores offer many different styles and colors, and if you’re looking for something more luxurious, follow your favorite designer and sign-up for a newsletter. Your email is often worth a 10%, 20% or more discount!
Reward The Chef In Your Life
Brighten up your kitchen with new appliances! Self-cleaning ovens, updated fridge interiors for better storage, water-efficient dishwashers and many small appliances often go on sale this weekend. Buying a package generally yields increased discounts as well, so if you’ve been on the fence about updating your appliances, now may be the time.
Ring In The New Year
Know who’s arrived by installing a new Ring doorbell! There are so many options for remote-based home security and Cyber Monday is a great time to research and purchase a system.
These are just a few ideas to get you started. Other items to look for include: end of season sales on outdoor furniture; replacing old or worn carpet with new carpet or hardwood options; updating bathroom vanities; replacing plumbing fixtures with either the latest or classic trends and increasing storage/decreasing clutter by buying new stand-alone cabinets. Let’s chat if you’re thinking about selling and you’d like an opinion on your best bang-for-the-buck fixes. Welcome to the Holidays!
